This new legal status will see Chelwood Foodbank CIO take on more projects that will benefit the clients of the organisation, such as Chelwood Community Hub and partnering with Zarach to attempt to tackle bed poverty across Stockport.
A Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) is a new (2012) type of legal structure for a registered charity in the United Kingdom. It is a corporate body with a constitution registered with and regulated by the Charity Commission. The intention is to afford charities limited liability without having to register as a limited company at Companies House and as a registered charity with the Charity Commission.
